The Broadstripe Mover’s Checklist
Things to do before, during and after your move!

Two months before you move…

Find out about the Broadstripe services available in your new location.
Compile a moving book or file for estimates, receipts (some may be tax deductible) and other information.
Use this list to keep track of what’s been done and what needs to be done!
Get at least three estimates and choose your moving company.
If necessary, investigate storage facilities and book them.
Notify all your insurers (home, vehicle, medical, etc.) of your move. Arrange for new or transferred coverage.
Have your children’s school records transferred to new district.
Collect packing supplies and let the packing begin!

One month before you move…

Contact us to order or transfer Broadstripe cable, Internet and phone services for your new address.
Get copies of medical/dental/prescription records.
Make an inventory of your possessions.
Obtain maps/directions to your new location.
File a change of address form at the post office.

One to two weeks before you move…

Haven’t called Broadstripe yet? Do it now to ensure set-up by the time you move in.
Confirm travel arrangements.
Contact utility companies to transfer your services.
Transfer bank accounts/funds to your new location.
File a change of address form at the post office.

One to two days before you move…

Confirm moving company arrival time.
Finish your major packing and make sure boxes are clearly marked.
Fill any prescriptions you’ll need for the next few weeks.
Have all your moving-related documents at hand.

Moving day…

Take a final walk-around, switch everything off and lock up.
Verify your destination address with your moving company.
Bring essentials and important documents.

After your arrival…

Unpack, starting with essential items and working down. Check for damages as there may be a limited window for insurance claims.
Take some time to sit back, relax and enjoy the Broadstripe services you set up in advance.
Locate the nearest emergency service providers: hospitals, fire/police departments, etc.
Verify that your mail is being forwarded to your new address.
Update/revise legal documents.
Register to vote and for other local government purposes.
Meet the neighbors and settle in!
